Methodology
Where the data comes from, and how we check it.
Sources
- SEC EDGAR: filings (10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, S-1, S-3, 424B, DEF 14A), XBRL company facts, Forms 3, 4 and 5, Schedules 13D and 13G, and 13F holdings.
- Company press releases, linked to the original.
- Exchange notices, where public.
- Retail chatter and AI audits: our own monitoring of public discussion (Reddit, StockTwits and similar) and of how AI assistants describe companies. Always labelled as sentiment or as an AI check, never presented as fact.
We don't currently publish price-based statistics such as charts, volatility or market cap. Those sections are hidden until we license a price feed that permits publication.
Citations
Every factual claim links to the filing or primary source behind it. If we can't source a claim, we don't publish it. If we can't find a catalyst for a move, we say "no company news found as of" the time we checked.
"Facts as of"
Moves explainers and ticker pages show when the facts were last checked. Small caps move fast; a filing made after that time won't be reflected.
Ticker pages
Each ticker page is built from that company's own filings. A section only appears when we have data for it. Pages with too little data are kept out of search engines until they fill in.
Estimates
Anything we calculate rather than read from a filing, such as a cash-runway estimate, is labelled as an estimate with the method stated next to it.
Trackers
The financing and listing trackers are being built. Each will get its own methodology note here when it launches.
Corrections
If we get something wrong, we fix it and note the correction on the page. Report errors via the contact page.
